The summer transfer window is open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Jean-Michael Seri…

Arsenal and Chelsea have held formal transfer talks with Nice over the potential signing of £35m-rated midfielder Jean-Michael Seri this summer, according to Nice Matin via Get French Football News.

Seri has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League in recent months with Arsenal and Chelsea among the clubs to have reportedly earmarked the midfielder as a potential summer signing.

The 26-year-old has been one of the best all-round central midfielders in French football since joining Nice from Pacos de Ferreira in 2015 and he’s also a regular with the Ivory Coast national team.

It seems the London duo have already formalised their interest as Get French Football News are citing local outlet Nice Matin as saying Arsenal and Chelsea have instigated talks with Nice about a possible deal to sign Seri.

Arsenal are in the market for another midfielder as Santi Cazorla has left the club and Jack Wilshere’s future is also in doubt having failed to agree terms over a new contract.

Unai Emery is looking to revamp the squad he inherited from former boss Arsene Wenger and Seri could be viewed as his new midfield linchpin in the middle of the park.

Chelsea are also expected to freshen up their midfield options with Danny Drinkwater set to leave following a disappointing debut season in west London and it looks like the Blues have lined-up Seri as a possible replacement.

However, the London duo will face fresh competition for the Ivorian’s signature as the report says Manchester City have also enquired about Seri as they look for a long-term replacement for Fernandinho.

Seri has a release clause set at around £35m in his contract and that sort of money shouldn’t be too much of a problem for the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea or City so it will be interesting to see where he ends up if he opts for a move to England.
