Team-Mate Fears Midfielder Could Join Man Utd After Reds Open Talks To Sign £61m Star

The summer transfer window is open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are linked with Ivan Rakitic…

Luis Suarez fears Ivan Rakitic could leave Barcelona after Manchester United made contact over a possible deal to sign the £61m midfielder this summer, according to reports in Spain via TeamTalk.

Rakitic was one of the best midfielders in Europe during his three-year spell at Sevilla where he lifted the Europa League before earning a move to Barcelona in the summer of 2014. The Croatian international has continued to impress during his time at the Nou Camp as he’s won the Champions League and three La Liga titles in his four years at the club.

However, the 30-year-old’s future has been in doubt in recent months amid speculation that Barca are looking to overhaul their midfield options and that’s led to interest from some of Europe’s top clubs.

TeamTalk are citing a report from Don Balon that claims Manchester United have already made contact to hold talks about a possible deal while Juventus have also expressed their interest with £61m bids being touted.

Jose Mourinho has already agreed a deal to sign Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk but the United boss may be in the market for another midfielder as Michael Carrick has retired and Marouane Fellaini is expected to leave on a free transfer when his contract expires this month.

Rakitic would be an excellent addition if United could lure him to Old Trafford and it seems there’s a possibility of that happening as the report says striker Luis Suarez has warned Barca officials the midfielder is tempted to leave the club this summer.

It’s said that Rakitic is concerned about Barcelona’s plans to bring in another midfielder so he’s assessing his options and a move to United could be on the cards if a deal could be agreed.

Obviously Juventus would provide stiff competition as the Old Lady are back among Europe’s elite but United have the financial muscle to tempt Rakitic with a lucrative contract if Mourinho decides to push forward with a move for the Croatian star.

Just another player not needed at Old Trafford, too old, he would not be coming for love of the Club but a pay off in his dotage.

I agree he should have got rid of Jones Smalling blind rojo to name a few and have martial and Shaw established in the team.
Buying old players who only come for the money is foolhardy.
His buying and style of football is not up to standard.
