John Terry: Title Race Reignited Plus Transfer News
John Terry has recently said that the experience of Chelsea will come to the fore in the latter stages of the title race, if one such matter does exist. The club seems to have overturned the terrible run of form that saw us in a position that would have resulted in no Champions league football for the next season. The 4-0 victory against Bolton Wanderers was extremely crucial not only for the points, but because it represented the return of the real Didier Drogba.
Drogba was once again back to his best and it was something that was eluding him ever since he got down to the bug of malaria. Even though Chelsea are currently 10 points behind Manchester United at the moment, John Terry says that it is still conceivable that Chelsea could win the title.
“We all realise we are a small squad and the club are looking at different options. I don’t want to get into that but, what I will say, if the group has to stay together for the rest of the season we will definitely be right up there.”
Carlo Ancelotti is extremely close to securing the signing of David Luiz in order to help him exactly achieve that. He is someone who can certainly impact on the team, but can he help in the push for the title at this stage? I don’t think so. However, one player who can help is Sergio Aguero and with the start of the transfer window, rumours have once again surfaced regarding his move to Chelsea.
Athletico Madrid have said that they have just rejected an offer of £52 million for both Sergio Aguero and Diego Forlan. Everybody knows about the Sergio Aguero story, but the Diego Forlan one certainly seems a bit strange. If either of the one arrives (although I prefer the former), then it could seriously help our chances for the title.
The title is still a possibility because there are still two games to play against Manchester United. However, the fact that Arsenal and to a possible extent, Manchester City are also involved makes it quite difficult. But like John Terry, Chelsea fans have to keep believing that the title can still be retained.
