Chelsea & Tottenham Eye Move To Sign Key Liverpool Target In £66m Deal

Chelsea and Tottenham have been offered the chance to sign Nabil Fekir for £66m after the Lyon attacker saw his move to Liverpool fall through

The summer transfer window is open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Nabil Fekir…

Chelsea and Tottenham have been offered the chance to sign Nabil Fekir for £66m after the Lyon attacker saw his move to Liverpool fall through, according to reports via TeamTalk.

Fekir was one of the most prolific playmakers in Europe last season having provided 23 goals and 8 assists in all competitions for Lyon to earn a place in the French World Cup squad this summer. That sort of form attracted interest from Liverpool after Jurgen Klopp identified Fekir as the man to fill the void left by Philippe Coutinho’s move to Barcelona in January.

A £53m deal looked to be on the cards and Fekir is believed to have even done his interview with LiverpoolTV before the proposed move sensationally collapsed at the last minute with TeamTalk claiming that Liverpool’s medical staff had concerns over the players knee injury – which required surgery in March.

There is speculation that a deal could be resurrected after the World Cup but it looks like Lyon aren’t hanging around for Liverpool to renew their interest as TeamTalk are citing a report from the Sun that claims they’ve offered Fekir to Chelsea and Tottenham.

The newspaper says both London clubs are keen on doing a deal to sign the 24-year-old attacker but Lyon are now demanding £66m for Fekir’s signature and it remains to be seen whether Chelsea or Spurs are willing to meet their valuation.

The Blues are expected to strengthen their squad after missing out on the top four last season and Fekir could be viewed as a potential replacement for Willian amid speculation linking him with a move to Man Utd.

However, Tottenham are also in the market for top class players as Mauricio Pochettino tries to take the north Londoners to the next level and Fekir could help make Spurs genuine title challengers next season.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks and while I think Fekir would be an excellent signing for Chelsea or Spurs, I still have a feeling the Liverpool move could yet be resurrected.
