Emery Boost: Arsenal To Be Given Green Light To Complete £17.6m Signing

Arsenal are set to be given the green light to complete the signing of Ever Banega after Sevilla signed a replacement for the £17.6m midfielder

The summer transfer window is open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are given a boost in their pursuit of Ever Banega….

Arsenal are set to be given the green light to complete the signing of Ever Banega after Sevilla signed a replacement for the £17.6m midfielder, according to reports in Spain via TeamTalk.

Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere are set to leave the club when their contracts expire this weekend so Unai Emery is in the market for midfield reinforcements and we’re widely reported to be closing-in on a deal to sign Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria.

However, it seems Emery wants another option in the middle of the park and Banega has emerged as a prime target with the Mirror claiming earlier this week that the Arsenal boss had personally called the midfielder to discuss a move to the Emirates following positive talks with his agent.

We’ve now been handed a boost in our pursuit as TeamTalk are citing a report from the Independent that claims Arsenal are set to be given the green light to complete a deal for Banega after Sevilla signed Roque Mesa from Swansea City as his replacement.

The report says Banega has a buyout clause set at £17.6m – which is well within Arsenal’s price range – so a deal should be relatively straightforward once the player returns from international duty.

The 29-year-old is representing Argentina at the World Cup and grabbed a superb assist for their crucial opening goal as he set-up Lionel Messi with a stunning long-range pass en route to a 2-1 victory over Nigeria.

Emery knows Banega well as they won two Europa League’s together during their time at Sevilla and it looks increasingly likely that they will be reunited at the Emirates over the coming weeks.
