Man Utd To Launch Big-Money Bid To Sign 28-Year-Old After Mourinho Holds Transfer Talks

The summer transfer window is open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are ready to make their move for Toni Kroos….

Manchester United are ready to launch a big-money bid to sign Toni Kroos after Jose Mourinho identified the Real Madrid star as a key transfer target, according to reports in Spain via the Daily Mail.

Mourinho knows he needs to strengthen throughout his squad if United are to compete with Manchester City for the title next season after finishing 19 points adrift of their rivals last campaign and he’s already snapped up Diogo Dalot from Porto and Fred from Shkhtar Donetsk.

However, Michael Carrick has now retired, there is speculation suggesting that Ander Herrera could be heading back to Spain while Marouane Fellaini is yet to sign a new contract so Mourinho is being tipped to sign another central midfielder this summer.

Kroos has emerged as a prime target with the Daily Mail citing a report from Diario AS that claims Mourinho identified the German star as the man he wants during transfer talks with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.

The Spanish publication says United are now ready to spend big money to secure the services of the Real Madrid midfielder but the European champions are reluctant to sell and may demand the full value of his £442m release clause.

United are one of the richest clubs in the world but even they are highly unlikely to sanction such a deal for Kroos so it looks like Madrid would have to lower their expectations if a deal was to be agreed this summer.

Kroos has been one of the best midfielders in the world over the past five years and he’s helped Madrid win a whole host of trophies including 3 Champions League’s and 1 La Liga title since joining the club from Bayern Munich in 2014.

The 28-year-old would obviously be a sensational signing if United could lure him to Old Trafford but Kroos signed a long-term contract in October 2016 and is tied to the Bernabeu until 2022 so I think any deal is going to be extremely difficult to pull off.
