Arsenal Ready To Hijack Tottenham’s Attempts To Sign £44m Ligue 1 Star

Arsenal are ready to hijack Tottenham’s attempts to sign £44m-rated Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele this summer, according to reports in France

The summer transfer window is open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are linked with Tottenham target Tanguy Ndombele….

Arsenal are ready to hijack Tottenham’s attempts to sign £44m-rated Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele this summer, according to reports in France via the Metro.

Ndombele is a product of the youth system at Guingamp but made his name at Amiens after breaking in to their first team set-up in 2016 before joining Lyon on an initial one-year loan deal last summer.

The 21-year-old impressed at the Groupama Stadium as he made 50 appearances in all competitions to help Lyon finish third in the Ligue 1 table and thus securing a place in the Champions League next season.

Lyon are set to trigger an option to make Ndombele’s move permanent for £7m this summer and they are keen to keep hold of him but president Jean-Michel Aulas may be tempted to cash-in and turn a quick profit if a suitable offer arrives.

TeamTalk reported last week that it would take a bid of £44m to persuade Lyon to sell and it seems there are plenty of clubs showing a keen interest in signing Ndombele this summer.

Sky Sports reported earlier this month that Tottenham have expressed their interest in signing Ndombele as Mauricio Pochettino looks for potential replacement for Moussa Dembele amid reports the Belgian international could leave north London.

However, it looks like Spurs will face competition from their fierce rivals as the Metro are citing a report from Le Progres that claims Arsenal have now joined the race to sign Ndombele and could hijack Tottenham’s attempts to get a deal agreed.

Unai Emery is looking to revamp his midfield options after losing Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere this summer and the Gunners have been strongly linked with Lucas Torreira but a deal is yet to be finalised with Sampdoria.

Arsenal could therefore be eyeing Ndombele as a potential alternative target for the South American and Emery will know the midfielder well from his time in France as Paris Saint-Germain manager.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop but it looks like the north London giants could go head-to-head over Ndombele’s signature this summer and he’d be an exciting addition for whichever club wins the race.
