The summer transfer window is open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal and Tottenham are linked with Adrien Rabiot…
Arsenal and Tottenham have been linked with a move for Manchester United target Adrien Rabiot as the midfielder considers his future at Paris Saint-Germain, according to reports in France via the Mirror.
Rabiot has been with PSG his entire career after coming through their youth system and he initially struggled to become a regular after breaking in to the first team set-up in 2012. However, the 23-year-old finally established himself last season as he made 44 appearances in all competitions to help PSG win a domestic treble.
Despite showing some excellent form, Rabiot was left out of Dider Deschamps’ France squad for the World Cup finals and that snub has led to the midfielder considering his future at the Parc des Prince this summer.
The situation has alerted clubs in England as TeamTalk carried a report on Monday claiming that Manchester United have held talks with Rabiot’s mother – who’s also his agent – about a possible move to Old Trafford.
Jose Mourinho is looking to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season and the report says he’s weighting-up a move for the £35m-rated midfielder amid speculation linking Ander Herrera with a move back to Spain.
However, it seems United will face stiff competition for his signature as the Mirror is citing a report from France Football that claims Arsenal and Tottenham are also eyeing a summer swoop for Rabiot.
Unai Emery is overhauling the squad he inherited from Arsene Wenger and the Spanish coach knows Rabiot extremely well after coaching him for two years during his time at PSG so it looks like he wants a reunion at Arsenal this summer.
Mauricio Pochettino is also in the market for midfield reinforcements as he looks to turn Tottenham in to genuine title contenders and Rabiot could be viewed as a potential replacement for Mousa Dembele – who’s being linked with a move away from north London.
We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks but I think Rabiot would be an excellent signing for Arsenal, Spurs or United if any of the trio could lure him to the Premier League.
