From Spain: International Star Demands Move After Arsenal Submit £13.2m Offer

Steven N’Zonzi has handed in a formal transfer request to try and push through a move to north London after Arsenal saw a £13.2m bid rejected by Sevilla

The summer transfer window is open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Steven N’Zonzi wants to join Arsenal

Steven N’Zonzi has handed in a formal transfer request to try and push through a move to north London after Arsenal saw a £13.2m bid rejected by Sevilla, according to El Confidencial.

Unai Emery is hoping to strengthen his midfield options and while a deal to sign Sampdoria’s Lucas Torreira is reportedly close to completion, we could be in the market for two new midfielders after Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere left the club when their contracts expired at the weekend.

N’Zonzi has emerged as a key target in recent weeks as Emery knows the French international well having won two Europa League trophies during their time together at Sevilla and it seems he’s hoping for a reunion at the Emirates this summer.

It looks like we’ve now formalised our interest as El Confidencial claim that Arsenal have tabled an opening £13.2m [€15m] offer for N’Zonzi’s signature but it was immediately rejected by Sevilla.

The 6ft 5in midfielder still has two years left on his contract and his release clause is set at £35.3m [€40m] but the Spanish outlet says the La Liga side are prepared to sell if we up our offer to around £22m [€25m].

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal chiefs are ready to meet Sevilla’s asking price but the report says N’Zonzi’s agent, who’s also his father, has told the clubs sporting director Joaquin Caparros that the player wants to leave this summer.

Sevilla have indicated they are prepared to sell at the right price and this news is supported by the Daily Mail who claim that N’Zonzi has submitted a transfer request in order to force through a move to Arsenal.

N’Zonzi has experience playing in the Premier League having enjoyed spells at Blackburn and Stoke and the powerful midfielder would certainly add a physical presence to the Arsenal side if we sign him.

We’ll have to wait and see how things progress but any potential move won’t happen just yet as N’Zonzi is still in Russia representing France at the World Cup and he’s preparing for Friday’s quarter final with Uruguay.
