The summer transfer window is open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Tottenham saw a £40m bid to sign an Arsenal and Man Utd target rejected…

Tottenham have seen an opening £40m bid to sign Arsenal and Manchester United target Tanguy Ndombele rejected by Lyon this summer, according to a report by Football London.

Ndombele came through the youth ranks at Guingamp but made his name at Amiens after breaking in to their first team in 2016 before joining Lyon on an initial one-year loan deal last summer.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a hugely impressive 12 months at the Groupama Stadium as he made 50 appearances in all competitions to help Lyon secure third in the Ligue 1 table and with it a place in next seasons Champions League.

Lyon has taken up an option to make Ndombele’s move permanent for a fee in the region of £7m but they face a battle to hang on to the midfielder amid growing interest from some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs.

Football London claims that Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester United are among the clubs to have registered their interest in signing Ndombele this summer while Liverpool and Manchester City have also been linked.

Arsenal are in the market for midfield reinforcements after Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla left the club and while they’re being strongly linked with Lucas Torreira, it seems Ndombele is also on Unai Emery’s radar.

Jose Mourinho has already signed Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk but the Portuguese coach could be on the look out for a second central midfielder amid speculation linking Ander Herrera with a move back to Spain and it seems United are also eyeing Ndombele.

However, Football London are citing a report from Paris United that claims Tottenham are the only club to have submitted a formal offer so far after the north Londoners tabled a £40m bid this summer.

Mauricio Pochettino has been quiet in the window so far but the Argentinean coach is expected to be in the market for a midfielder and Ndombele could be viewed as a potential replacement for Mousa Dembele – who’s being linked with a move away.

Unfortunately for Spurs the report says the offer was rejected by Lyon and the likes of Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are now sniffing around so it looks like their could be a bidding war over Ndombele’s signature.

Lyon are reportedly hoping to tie the French U21 international down to a new long-term contract but it remains to be seen if they’ll be able to resist if the likes of Spurs, Arsenal or United submit an offer they can’t refuse.
