Manchester United are confident of wrapping-up a deal to sign £60m-rated Chelsea star Willian ahead of Spanish giants Barcelona, according to reports via TeamTalk.

Jose Mourinho was the man who signed Willian from Anzhi Makhachkala during his first spell at Stamford Bridge in 2013 and the attacker has proven to be an excellent signing for the west Londoners having provided 44 goals and 39 assists in 236 games to help win 2 Premier League titles and 3 domestic cups.

However, the Brazilian international’s future is in doubt as he struggled to hold down a regular first team place last season having started just 20 games under Antonio Conte and Willian admitted last month that he was frustrated with his bit-part role at the club.

The situation has alerted some top clubs as TeamTalk claim that Manchester United and Barcelona have both registered their interest with the Catalans ready to offer the likes of Andre Gomes and Rafinha to try and tempt Chelsea in to a deal.

However, TeamTalk also cite a report from the Sun that claims United are confident they will win the race to sign Willian as Mourinho looks to be reunited with the South American at Old Trafford this summer.

The report says Mourinho has made Willian his prime transfer target as he looks to strengthen his attack after losing faith in Anthony Martial and Chelsea are willing to do business if their £60m valuation is met.

Usually, you’d assume that Chelsea would rather sell abroad than to a domestic rival but they showed in the past with the sales of Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic that they’ll deal with United if the price is right so Willian could join his former team-mates in Manchester this summer.

United have been linked with the 29-year-old ever since Mourinho arrived at Old Trafford two years ago and Willian’s future should be resolved soon after Brazil were knocked out of the World Cup.
