Transfer News: Manchester United Agree £70.6m Deal To Sign La Liga Star
Manchester United have agreed a £70.6m deal to sign Real Madrid star Toni Kroos as Jose Mourinho looks to cash-in on Paul Pogba.
The summer transfer window is open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Toni Kroos…
According to dubious reports in Spain via TeamTalk, Manchester United have agreed a £70.6m deal to sign Real Madrid star Toni Kroos as Jose Mourinho looks to cash-in on Paul Pogba.
Mourinho has snapped-up three new signings so far this summer with goalkeeper Lee Grant, right-back Diogo Dalot and midfielder Fred all arriving in recent weeks but the United boss knows he needs to further strengthen his squad if they’re to compete with Manchester City next season.
United have been linked with a whole host of top names and Spanish outlet Diario AS reported earlier this month Mourinho had set his sights on pulling-off an audacious swoop for Kroos after telling executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward the Madrid star was his dream target.
It appears Mourinho could get his wish as TeamTalk are now citing a report from Don Balon that claims United have moved quickly to agree terms over a £70.6m deal with Madrid to sign the German international.
Kroos has been one of the best midfielders in world football since moving to the Bernabeu from Bayern Munich in 2014 and he’s played a key role in winning three Champions League’s over the past four seasons.
However, the Spanish publication says Madrid are ready to cash-in on Kroos and use the money to help fund a big-money swoop for Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic – who’s also been linked with United.
On the face of it, the Don Balon report is believable as United have the money to buy a player like Kroos and Madrid seem to be overhauling their squad after selling Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus.
However, the report starts to lose credibility when Don Balon goes on to suggest that United will sell Paul Pogba in order to make room for Kroos’s arrival at Old Trafford this summer.
Pogba endured a mixed campaign under Mourinho last season and the Spanish outlet says United are hoping his impressive performances at the World Cup will lead to big-money interest from some of Europe’s most powerful clubs.
Personally, I’d take these reports with a pinch of salt as I’m not convinced United are ready to give up on Pogba just yet. The Frenchman has bags of talent and United chiefs would no doubt hate to see him fulfill his potential away from Old Trafford.
