There is plenty of Manchester United-related gossip doing the rounds in the papers with the Red Devils linked with a whole host of star names. Today, United are in advanced talks to sign Gareth Bale….
Manchester United are in advanced talks to sign Gareth Bale ahead of a potential £70m move from Real Madrid this summer, according to reports via TeamTalk.
Bale has enjoyed huge success at Madrid since joining the club from Tottenham five years ago as he’s provided 88 goals and 57 assists in 189 games to help Los Blancos win a whole host of honours including 4 Champions League’s and 1 La Liga title.
However, the 28-year-old’s future at the Bernabeu is in serious doubt as he admitted he needed to be playing regular first team football after coming off the bench to score two stunning goals to seal a 3-1 victory over Liverpool in the Champions League final last season.
Bale endured a frustrating first half to last season due to a number of niggling injuries but he struggled to force his way back in to Zinedine Zidane’s starting eleven after returning to full fitness in January.
New boss Julen Lopetegui is expected to hold talks with Bale’s camp to discuss his future but there are growing rumours the Welsh international is keen for a fresh start and a move to the Premier League could be on the cards.
Manchester United have been strongly linked with Bale in recent months and TeamTalk are citing a report from the Manchester Evening News that claims the Reds are in advanced talks over a potential £70m deal.
The newspaper says Bale is edging closer to opting for a move to Old Trafford while Bleacher Report, via TeamTalk, say United have been given encouragement that a deal can happen this summer.
Madrid are due to return to pre-season training on Monday so no doubt Bale will hold talks with the club soon and the European champions may be reluctant to lose another star attacker after selling Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus.
However, if Bale pushes for a move then Madrid are unlikely to stand in his way and United appear to be in pole position to secure the attackers signature if he decides to come back to the Premier League.
Mourinho has already signed three new faces this summer but United know they need to further strengthen if they’re to catch Man City and Bale’s quality could add the spark that was missing in the final third at times last season.
