Liverpool Ready To Rival Tottenham In Race To Sign £50m Star – Reports
Liverpool are ready to join Tottenham and Everton in the race to sign £50m-rated Crystal Palace attacker Wilfried Zaha this summer, according to reports
The summer transfer window is open and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool and Tottenham are linked with Wilfried Zaha….
Zaha came through the youth ranks at Palace and was considered to be one of the most exciting youngsters in British football when he joined Manchester United in 2013 but he endured a disappointing two-year spell after failing to establish himself at Old Trafford having made just 2 first team appearances.
The Ivory Coast international eventually secured a permanent move back to Palace in 2015 having previously joined the club on loan and Zaha has rediscovered some of his best form at Selhurst Park over the past few years.
The 25-year-old provided 9 goals and 5 assists in his 29 Premier League appearances last season to help Palace secure their top flight status for another year and his performances have once again attracted interest from the upper echelons of the division.
Everton have been linked in recent weeks but the Mirror are citing a report from Goal that claims Liverpool have now joined Tottenham in registering their interest in signing Zaha this summer.
The newspaper says Zaha is open to the idea of a big-money move but with the attacker under contract until 2022, Palace are under no pressure to sell on the cheap and the Mirror suggest it will take £50m to tempt them in to a deal.
Mauricio Pochettino has been quiet in the market so far this summer but he’s expected to pick things up over the coming weeks as he tries to turn Tottenham in to genuine title contenders and it seems Zaha is on his radar.
Liverpool have just splashed out £13m on the signing of Xherdan Shaqiri but Jurgen Klopp could still be in the market for another attacker if he feels he needs more depth in the final third and Zaha would offer competition for the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
We’ll have to wait and see how things progress over the coming weeks but I think Zaha would be an excellent signing for Liverpool or Tottenham if either club decided to formalise their interest and were able to get a deal agreed.
