Man Utd Steal March On Arsenal After Opening Talks To Sign £44m World Cup Star

Manchester United have stolen a march on Arsenal after opening talks over a deal to sign Eintracht Frankfurt winger Ante Rebic this summer

There is plenty of Manchester United and Arsenal gossip doing the rounds in the papers with the English giants linked with a whole host of star names. Today, Man Utd have made their move for Ante Rebic…

Manchester United have stolen a march on Arsenal after opening talks over a potential deal to sign Eintracht Frankfurt winger Ante Rebic this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

Jose Mourinho has been relatively quiet in the transfer market with third-choice goalkeeper Lee Grant and young full-back Diogo Dalot the only arrivals other than Fred with the Brazilian international the only one of the trio expected to be a first team regular.

The Man Utd boss knows he needs to further strengthen his squad if they’re to compete with Man City and Mourinho admitted earlier this week that he was hoping to bring-in two more signings before the window closes on August 9th.

Another wide attacker appears to be on the agenda and the Mirror reported last week that United were ready to battle it out with Arsenal over a deal to sign £44m-rated Croatian star Ante Rebic.

Unai Emery has also confirmed he’s hoping to sign one more top class player before the start of the season and the Gunners boss is being tipped to land an attacker after focussing his efforts on strengthen their defence so far this summer.

Rebic is seemingly on Arsenal’s radar, however, the Daily Mail claim Man Utd have stolen a march on their rivals after opening talks with the wingers representatives about a potential move to Old Trafford.

The newspaper says United have ended their interest in Ivan Perisic and switched their attention to his international-mate following his excellent performances at the World Cup which saw Croatia reach their first ever final.

Rebic only joined Frankfurt on a permanent deal this summer after enjoying a spell on loan from Fiorentina last season but the German outfit may now decide to cash-in in order to turn a quick profit.

United could view the 24-year-old as a potential replacement for Anthony Martial as the French international continues to be linked with a move after struggling to establish himself under Mourinho.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop as there is still plenty of time for Arsenal to step-up their interest but I think Rebic would be an excellent signing for Arsenal or united if either club could get a deal agreed.
