Manchester United are ready to sell Marcos Rojo to help fund their swoop for Leicester City centre-back Harry Maguire this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

Jose Mourinho is keen to bring in two more new signings before the start of the new season having been frustrated by the clubs lack of activity in the market so far with Fred the only new arrival expected to be a first team regular as Lee Grant will be their third-choice goalkeeper while Diogo Dalot is one for the future.

A new central defender is reportedly on the agenda and Maguire has emerged as Mourinho’s prime target with the Mirror reporting last week that Man Utd have opened formal transfer talks with Leicester over a potential deal.

Maguire has enjoyed a meteoric rise since coming through the youth ranks at Sheffield United as he had three impressive years at Hull City before joining Leicester in a £17m deal last summer and continued to enhance his reputation at the King Power.

The 25-year-old then played a major role in helping England reach the semi-finals of the World Cup this summer and it looks like Maguire’s performances in Russia have convinced United to try and lure him to Old Trafford.

However, that won’t be easy as Leicester are under no pressure to sell and the Daily Star via TeamTalk claims that it will take around £80m to force the Foxes hierarchy to cash-in this summer.

That would smash the world-record fee for a defender and while United have the financial muscle to pay that kind of money, Mourinho is still going to need to sell one of his current centre-backs to make room for Maguire.

The Daily Mail claims Man Utd have now decided to cash-in on Rojo and are looking to sell the South American for around £30m to help fund their big-money swoop for Maguire this summer.

Rojo has just returned from holiday following his exploits at the World Cup with Argentina but the 28-year-old is now expected to find a new club over the next two weeks with Wolves among those reportedly keen.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming days but the Daily Mail says Magurie is confident he’ll be a United player by the end of the window and could line-up against Leicester on the opening weekend of the new campaign.
