The summer transfer window is in full swing and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, the latest on Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool target David Neres…
Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham have been told they can sign Brazilian winger David Neres this summer if they meet Ajax’s £44.5m asking price, according to reports via TeamTalk.
Neres forged a reputation as one of the most highly-rated youngsters in Brazil after coming through the youth ranks at Sao Paulo before joining Ajax in January 2017 for around £10m and he enjoyed an excellent first full season in Holland having provided 15 goals and 14 assists in his 35 appearances in all competitions last campaign.
The 21-year-old’s potential has caught the attention of teams in the Premier League as TeamTalk claim Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham are among the clubs to have registered their interest in signing Neres this summer.
Arsenal have already signed five new recruits so far this window but Unai Emery is reportedly keen to bring in some natural width to his squad after concentrating his efforts on strengthening his backline so far this summer and it seems Neres is among the Spaniards targets.
Liverpool are in the market for attacking reinforcements as Jurgen Klopp looks to add depth behind the likes of Mo Salah and Sadio Mane while Mauricio Pochettino is also being tipped to strengthen his options in the final third as he looks to turn Tottenham in to genuine title contenders and Neres is also on their radars.
The English trio have been boosted in their pursuit of the Brazilian U20 international as TeamTalk says Neres has now informed Ajax of his desire to leave this summer as he looks to further his career in a more competitive league.
However, Ajax are under no pressure to sell on the cheap and the report – which originates from the Dutch media – claims the Eredivisie giants have told the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs they’ll sell but only if their £44.5m asking price is met.
We’ll have to wait and see how things progress over the coming days but I think Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs will be reluctant to pay that kind of money for a youngster who’s had one good season in Holland so Ajax will need to lower their demands if a deal is to be agreed.
