Liverpool Could Beat Arsenal To Signing Of £89m Star After Opening Transfer Talks
Liverpool have stolen a march on Arsenal after opening talks with Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele over a potential £89m deal this summer
The summer transfer window is in full swing and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool are in talks with Arsenal target Ousmane Dembele….
Liverpool have stolen a march on Arsenal after opening talks with Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele over a potential £89m deal this summer, according to reports in Spain via TeamTalk.
Dembele developed in to one of the most exciting young attackers in European football during his short spell at Borussia Dortmund which earned him a big-money move to Barcelona last summer which could reach up to £135m if various performance-based add-ons are achieved.
However, his time at the Nou Camp hasn’t gone to plan as Dembele was hampered by a serious hamstring injury last season and struggled to force his way back in to Ernesto Valverde’s starting eleven leading to him making just 6 La Liga starts last campaign.
Dembele could find himself knocked further down the pecking order following the arrival of Malcom from Bordeaux and Football London reported recently that Arsenal are hoping to take advantage of the situation by luring the 21-year-old to the Emirates.
Unai Emery is keen to add a pacey winger to his ranks before the start of the season and the Gunners boss has seemingly identified Dembele as a key target with the north Londoners seeing the French international as a ‘dream’ signing.
However, it looks like Liverpool have stolen a march on Arsenal as TeamTalk are citing a report from Don Balon that claims the Merseysiders have now opened transfer talks with Dembele and his representatives over a potential move.
Jurgen Klopp has made no secret of his admiration for the player and the Reds boss is on the market for another attacker after failing to fill the void left by Philippe Coutinho’s exit in January.
It looks like Klopp could get his man as the Spanish publication says Barcelona are ready to cash-in on Dembele if Liverpool are prepared to meet their £89m asking price this summer.
It remains to be seen whether the Anfield club are willing to spend that kind of money having already invested heavily this summer but Dembele would be an excellent signing for Liverpool, or indeed Arsenal, if either club could get a deal agreed.
