Arsenal Hoping To Sign La Liga Star As Emery Looks To Conclude £95m Spending Spree

Arsenal are eyeing a £25m swoop for Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi as Unai Emery looks to take his summer spending towards £95m

The summer transfer window is in full swing and managers are working hard on their transfer targets so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are still keen on Steven N’Zonzi…

Arsenal are eyeing a £25m swoop for Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi as Unai Emery looks to take his summer spending towards £95m, according to the Daily Mail.

Emery wasted no time revamping the squad he inherited from Arsene Wenger as he’s spent around £70m on five new signings with goalkeeper Bernd Leno, centre-back Sokratis, right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner and midfielder duo Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi all being snapped-up in recent weeks.

However, Emery is still keen to bring in one more signing before the transfer window closes on August 9th and despite already signing Torreira and Guendouzi this summer, it seems another central midfielder is on the agenda.

N’Zonzi has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates recently and the Daily Mail says Arsenal are keen to sign the French international after Emery identified him as a prime target.

The pair worked together during their time at Sevilla and won the Europa League before Emery moved to Paris Saint-Germain and it looks like the Arsenal boss is hoping to be reunited with the 29-year-old in north London.

N’Zonzi’s future at Sevilla has been in serious doubt this summer and the newspaper says a deal would cost £25m meaning Emery’s spending would be around £95m if we were successful in luring the Frenchman to the Emirates.

However, the Daily Mail says Emery has been told he must sell before he can push forward with any new signings and they name Aaron Ramsey as a potential departure as his contract situation drags on.

The 27-year-old has just one year remaining on his current contract and is yet to agree terms over an extension leading to suggestions Arsenal will look to cash-in this summer if he doesn’t commit his future to the club before transfer deadline day.

I’d be gutted to see Ramsey leave as I’d like to see him made captain under Emery this season but if he doesn’t sign a new contract soon then the club will have no choice but to sell and it seems N’Zonzi has been earmarked as a replacement.
