Man Utd Target Hoping To Force Through Move After Chelsea See £102m Offer Rejected
Manchester United target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is hoping to convince Lazio to cash-in on him this summer after Chelsea’s £102m offer was rejected
There is plenty of Manchester United and Chelsea gossip doing the rounds in the papers with the English giants linked with a whole host of star names. Today, the latest on the future of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic…
Manchester United target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is hoping to convince Lazio to cash-in on him this summer after Chelsea’s £102m offer was rejected, according to reports in Italy via TeamTalk.
Milinkovic-Savic has enjoyed a meteoric rise since joining Lazio from Genk in 2015 as he became one of the hottest talents in Europe after providing 14 goals and 9 assists to help his club finish fifth in the Serie A table last season while he’s also now a regular with the Serbian national team.
The 23-year-old’s potential has alerted clubs here in the Premier League and TeamTalk reported last month that Manchester United were in pole position to sign Milinkovic-Savic after opening talks with Lazio over a potential deal.
Jose Mourinho has expressed his frustration at United’s lack of activity in the transfer market as Fred is the only significant addition so far and the Portuguese coach has admitted he’d ideally like two new signings before the window closes next week.
Milinkovic-Savic would certainly be a marquee signing if Man Utd could pull it off but Chelsea are providing stiff competition as TeamTalk claims they’ve submitted an opening offer worth £102m plus youngster Charly Musonda.
New boss Maurizio Sarri is expected to be busy overhauling his squad over the next week and it looks like the Blues have launched a big-money bid to sign Milinkovic-Savic amid speculation Tiemoue Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater will be leaving.
That offer has been rejected by Lazio but TeamTalk are citing a report from Calciomercato that claims Milinkovic-Savic is ready to try and force through a move and has asked the Serie A club to be more accommodating in the negotiations over his sale.
The Serbian star returned late to pre-season training after missing his flight back from Belgrade and the report suggests Milinkovic-Savic is hoping to convince Lazio to lower their £133.5m valuation.
However, the Italians are determined not to sell their star man on the cheap and TeamTalk says Lazio hope Man Utd will come in with a higher offer than Chelsea’s to create a bidding war situation.
We’ll have to wait and see how things progress over the coming days but time is running out so the likes of Chelsea and United will need to act fast if they want to stand a chance of luring Milinkovic-Savic to the Premier League this summer.
