Premier League returns this weekend and Arsenal kick-off their 2018/19 campaign by welcoming champions Manchester City to the Emirates on Sunday afternoon.

Unai Emery has revamped the squad he inherited from Arsene Wenger with five new signings so Bernd Leno, Sokratis, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira will all be hoping to make their Premier League debuts on Sunday.

Arsenal have been handed a huge injury boost ahead of the game this weekend as Aaron Ramsey was able to resume full training today after making a swift recovery from a knock.

Ramsey was pulled out of our friendly against Chelsea last week after picking up a calf problem in the pre-match warm-up and he wasn’t risked against Lazio at the weekend.

However, the Welsh international was back out on the training pitches with the rest of the squad at London Colney today and is in contention to face City on Sunday afternoon.

Sead Kolasinac won’t be available for the season curtain raiser as the Bosnian international has been ruled out for up to 10 weeks after picking up a knee injury last week.

Nacho Monreal was in light training today after stepping up his recovery from a minor knee problem but the Spaniard is unlikely to be fit enough to face City so Ainsley Maitland-Niles should start at left-back.

The only other major injury concern is Laurent Koscielny as the centre-back is still several months away from recovering from an Achilles injury and isn’t due back until the end of the year.

Here is a team news update as per Arsenal.com:

Aaron Ramsey
Has resumed training

Sead Kolasinac
Injury to his left knee. Will be out for 8-10 weeks.

Laurent Koscielny
Injury to his right Achilles. Aiming for return to training at the end of the year

Danny Welbeck only returned to pre-season training earlier this week after enjoying a break following his exploits with England at the World Cup so the attacker is unlikely to feature against City.
