Here is our match preview ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Huddersfield including team news, expected line-ups, predicted score and betting.

Unai-Emery-arsenal

Arsenal kick off their 2018/19 campaign when they welcome defending champions Manchester City to the Emirates on Sunday afternoon.

A new era gets underway in north London tomorrow as Unai Emery takes charge of his first Premier League game after replacing Arsene Wenger at the end of last season and the Spanish coach is desperate to build on the air of optimism around the Emirates at present.

Fans are relishing a fresh start after 22-years under Wenger that saw them finish sixth in the table last season but the new Gunners boss couldn’t have asked for a tougher challenge as they entertain run-away 2017/18 winners Man City tomorrow.

City won the title by a whopping 19 points last season after securing a record 100 points but Pep Guardiola has warned it will be a lot more difficult to retain the trophy this season.

Team news

Arsenal have been boosted by the news that Aaron Ramsey has returned to training after recovering from a minor calf injury so he should start in midfield while Lucas Torreria could make his debut despite not being 100% match fit.

Sead Kolasinac and Laurent Koscielny are out with long-term injuries while Nacho Monreal isn’t expected to feature after only recently starting to train following a knee problem so Ainsley Maitland-Niles is set to start at left-back.

Sokratis will make his debut in defence but Petr Cech is being tipped to retain the gloves despite the arrival of Bernd Leno this summer.

City have Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne available for selection after they returned to pre-season training in excellent shape but David Silva is set to miss out.

Danilo is ruled out with an ankle injury but Kyle Walker and John Stones are expected to start despite their late arrival to pre-season training. Bernado Silva is set to keep his place in midfield after impressing in pre-season.

Likely Line-Ups

Predicted Score

Arsenal 2-2 Man City: Arsenal have won just two of their last 12 meetings with City – although five of those games in in a draw. City are going to be formidable again this season but Arsenal have the ability to cause them plenty of problems and it will be interesting to see how Emery tackles this game. I’m expecting goals and wouldn’t be surprised if the Gunners got a well-earned point on home soil.
