Arsenal have agreed a deal to offload David Ospina as Unai Emery looks to trim his squad over the coming weeks, according to reports via the Mirror.

Emery spent close to £70m this summer as he revamped the squad he inherited from Arsene Wenger with goalkeeper Bernd Leno one of five new signings to arrive following his £18m move from Bayer Leverkusen.

Leno’s arrival has knocked Ospina even further down the pecking order as Petr Cech was retained as number one for Sunday’s 2-0 opening Premier League defeat to Manchester City with the German stopper replacing Ospina on the bench.

The Colombian international has been forced to play second fiddle to Cech in recent years having failed to establish himself as first choice since arriving from Nice in summer of 2014.

The 29-year-old has made just 11 Premier League appearances over the past three seasons with the vast majority of his outings coming in the cup competitions but he’s found himself out in the cold even further since Leno’s arrival.

Arsenal are ready to offload the South American and the Mirror are citing a report from Fanatik that claims a deal has been agreed for Ospina to join Besiktas on an initial season long loan deal with a purchase clause for next year.

The Turkish newspaper says Arsenal had been holding out for a £7.1m clause to be included in the agreement to make the move permanent next summer but Besiktas were only prepared to pay around £5.1m.

Reports last week suggested that personal terms have already been agreed between Ospina and Besiktas so I expect this deal will be wrapped-up over the coming days and I can say I’ll be disappointed to see the back of him.

Emery is needing to further trim his squad and the Mirror claim that Joel Campbell and Carl Jenkinson are also expected to secure moves away from north London before the end of the summer.
