The Premier League has become the most popular football league in the world with fans all across the globe tuning-in to watch games and make their predictions for the season. This year is promising to be one of the most competitive yet with newly-promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers, Cardiff City, and Fulham all investing in their squads this summer.

However, the title will no doubt be contested between the big-boys with the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham and Chelsea the clear favourites to scoop the trophies this season.  With the global appeal of the Premier League it couldn’t be easier to keep up-to-date with games as websites like 777score.co.uk allow fans to check the latest scores and watch matches online.

Important transfers

With so many top sides vying for the title, it’s no surprise that clubs are investing record amounts in the transfer market to try and compete and this summer was no exception. Let’s take a look at some of the biggest transfers conducted by Premier League clubs this summer:

Riyad Mahrez: The Algerian international made his name at Leicester City as he helped fire them to a shock title win in 2015 before eventually making a big-money move to Manchester City this summer. Some were surprised Mahrez opted for City as he faced stiff competition to get in to the starting eleven but the long-term injury to Kevin de Bruyne has opened the door and he’s made an impressive start to life at the Etihad.

Mateo Kovacic:  New Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri decided to needed to revamp his midfield and after signing Jorginho from Napoli he snapped-up Kovacic on an initial loan from Real Madrid on deadline day. With Tiemoue Bakayoko heading to AC Milan and Cesc Fabregas suffering from fitness issues, Kovacic should see plenty of game-time at Stamford Bridge and I think he’ll prove to be an excellent signing.

Lucas Torreira: Arsenal have been in dire need of a defensive midfielder in recent years and after replacing Arsene Wenger this summer, Unai Emery didn’t waste any time bringing one in after splashing out £27m on Torreira. The 22-year-old has been excellent for Sampdoria in recent years and shone for Uruguay at the World Cup so he should be a superb addition to the Arsenal squad once he’s adapted to life in England.

Fred: Jose Mourinho endured a frustrating summer with Fred his only significant addition but he could prove to be a key signing. The Brazilian international has been a key player for Shakhtar Donetsk over the past five years, helping them compete in the Champions League and winning numerous domestic trophies. He’s also a regular with his country and could help get the best out of Paul Pogba this season.

Liverpool have also made some important signings with goalkeeper Alisson Becker arriving from Roma while Naby Keita looks to be an excellent purchase in midfield so the Reds are going to be pushing Man City for the title this year.
