Jose Mourinho has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon ahead of the game and he’s given reporters a team news and injury update.

The United boss was pleased to confirm a quadruple fitness boost with Nemanja Matic, Diogo Dalot, Antonio Valencia and Alexis Sanchez all back in full training this week.

Matic is yet to feature this season after undergoing surgery in June on an abdominal injury that he aggravated while representing Serbia at the World Cup finals but the midfielder is back in full training and in contention to face Spurs.

Valencia could also make his first appearance of the new campaign on Monday night having missed the opening two games with a calf injury that he picked up during United’s pre-season tour of the United States.

Sanchez was forced to sit-out the disappointing 3-2 defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend with a minor knock that he suffered in training ahead of the game but the Chilean international is back in contention to face Tottenham.

Dalot is also closing-in on a return to fitness after the teenage full-back resumed full training this week. The 19-year-old arrived from Porto this summer nursing a serious knee injury that he suffered last season but the youngster has stepped-up his recovery and could make his debut over the coming weeks.

Mourinho told ManUtd.com:

“I don’t know [if Sanchez, Matic and Valencia will start] because today is still Friday and we are training on Saturday and Sunday, and the match is on Monday.

“Decisions to be made on Sunday but yes, they are training with the team. Dalot is also training with the team for the first time this week, so in terms of the medical department, they are almost free.”

There was no update on Luke Shaw so it looks like he’s made a swift recovery from a minor foot problem that he picked-up against Brighton while Marcos Rojo is also expected to be back in contention soon but Sergio Romero remains on the sidelines with a knee injury.
