Arsenal have been handed a major fitness boost with Mesut Ozil returning to full training ahead of Sunday’s trip to Cardiff City.

Ozil missed last weekends 3-1 victory over West Ham at the Emirates Stadium after picking up an apparent cold which forced him to miss training in the lead-up to the game.

Reports in the newspapers suggested that Ozil had pulled a sickie following a bust-up with Unai Emery on the training pitch after being told on Thursday that he was going to be dropped for the visit of the Hammers.

Emery denied those reports after the game but he has publicly called on Ozil to work harder and show more intensity following disappointing performances during the defeats to Manchester City and Chelsea.

It looks like Ozil has recovered from his supposed cold as the German playmaker has been pictured back in full training with the rest of the squad at London Colney this afternoon.

It will be interesting to see whether Ozil starts at the Cardiff City Stadium on Sunday but his return to the squad will be a big boost as Mesut is still one of our most important players when he’s on top form.

Alexandre Lacazette was also in training today as he looks to impress the coaching staff to earn his first start of the new season while Lucas Torreira is also pushing to make his full debut after being named on the bench for our opening three games.
