Manchester United will be desperate to get their season back on track following consecutive defeats when they take on Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday afternoon.

Ahead of the game Jose Mourinho has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s provided a team news and injury update.

The United boss confirmed a blow with the news that Phil Jones has been ruled out of the trip to Burnley this weekend after being forced off with a hamstring injury during the 3-0 defeat to Tottenham on Monday night.

However, there was more encouraging news on the fitness of Sergio Romero, Diogo Dalot and Marcos Rojo with the trio all closing-in on their returns to full fitness.

Romero has been on the sidelines nursing a knee injury that he sustained while away with Argentina shortly before the World Cup finals but the goalkeeper will make his return to action with a run-out for the Under-23’s tonight.

Dalot arrived at Old Trafford from Porto this summer carrying a knee injury that he sustained during the closing stages of last season but the young full-back will also feature for the youth side this evening as he steps-up his comeback.

As long as they don’t suffer any setbacks, Romero and Dalot are expected to be available after the international break and Rojo should also be back in contention next month after returning to full training earlier this week.

Mourinho told ManUtd.com:

“Jones is injured, as you can imagine.  Dalot and Romero will play tonight at Old Trafford in an Under-23s match, which is a first match for them after knee surgeries and they need that a little bit but it’s good news for them because after that it’s the international break and after that they’ll be in a real condition to play.

“Marcos Rojo started training with the team a couple of days ago. He’s not ready for this match tonight but he is training with the team.”

So Man Utd should have three players available again after the international break but we’ll have to wait and see how long Jones will be on the sidelines for with his hamstring injury.
