[PLAYER RATINGS] Arsenal 2-1 Huddersfield

Almunia- A brilliant and composed performance from him taking into consideration that he had a bunch of loonies as Centre Backs and the fact that he is coming back after a long time. Made a fine save in the second half and couldn’t be blamed for the goal we conceded. Showed good presence in the box as well and looked more confident. 8

Gibbs- Poor overall .Out of place too many times. Was nowhere in sight made Hunt made his Dazzling run. 4

Kosher- No presence in the box and couldn’t handle the physicality of the Terriers. 5

Squillaci- Got sent off in the first half after a cynical foul on Hunt. 2

Eboue- the only one in the defence who showed up today.made some good runs and crosses .However seems to always mess up in the final third. 6

Denilson- Frustrating throughout the game. the terriers were treating him like a cat. Miss passing, getting bullied and no creativity dominated his game today. 4

Arshavin- Improving hisform.Faded in some phases of the game but looked our most creative and dangerous player out there. Made a fantastic defensive tackle to deny the terriers a certain goal.Just shows the commitments levels are increasing. 7.5

Nasri- Pulled his hammy.Subbed for Rosicky.Lets just hope he is fit as soon as possible.

Diaby- Nothing productive in the game. Will take time because he is just back from injury. Off for Cesc. 5

Chamakh- Assisted Bendtner for our first goal .May have handled the ball while controlling it though we have seen similiar cases pardonable. Taken off after the first half for Song to cover for Squillaci. 6

Bendtner- scored the first goal which was a bit fortuitous as their was a clear deflection off the defender.Missed sitters as usual but improved after Cesc was brought on. Won the penalty. 7

Rosicky- On for Nasri.great on the ball and was continously fouled. Gave a brilliant throughball to Arshavin which he failed to convert. a decent performance but needs to step it up for a starting place. 6

Cesc- Changed the game for the gunners. Gave us that spine we lacked throughout the game.Truly a Captain’s performance.Scored the winner by the converting the pen and played a massive role in getting it. 8

Song- On for Squillaci to cover the defence. Didnt perform well aerially but he is not a centre back hence the alibi. 5

How many teams could leave out….Chesney,Sagna,Clichy,Djourou,Cesc,RVP,Walcott,Song, and still win? Having said that games like this have proved beyond doubt that (A) Arsene has no idea how to buy or produce defenders (B) that we have players who are not Championship class ie; Denilson, Diaby, Squillacci, so should be replcade urgently.

If Arsene has convinced himself, again, that we have a quality in depth the he is delusional. The above three would not get into any team at the bottom of the PL.

Perhaps you could explain how you can arrive at a mark of 4 for Gibbs.I think zero would be too kind and you should perhaps be dipping into negative territory here.

Gibbs/Clichy- are both poor when Arshavin plays put Nasri or Walcott in and they doing the covering work with the left back and make them both look good

I agree with Brian, Gibbs was shocking yesterday, he has no idea at all how to defend, all he does is charge up field and gets caught out everytime, if he was not english poeple would be on his back, i dont understand how people think he has a future at Arsenal, i just hope Clichy can stay fit all season.

Yeah Gibbs was horrible. Wenger needs to tell him that he is a defender NOT a center forward. At least Clichy has stopped bombing forward too often. There is a clear difference, Gibbs isnt challenging for that position.

As for Denilson, I am in shock that he is still playing for Arsenal wtf! If Wenger said Adebayor was sold cause the fans didnt want him, why is Denilson still at the club?

Wooooah give Gibbs a chance. One bad game and he’s a zero..This lad has had his fair shre of injuries and form comes form playing ‘consecutive’ not piecemeal games. A bad day at teh offcie does not mark his whole career.

Koscielny, 1st full premier league season, no real top flight experience. This lads coming on great guns. His timing issues and line holding will improve…but one on one challenges and last ditch blocks and tackles hes showing another season or so he will be up there…Again game time will improve him.

Djourou is most improved and our most reliable understudy for Tommy V. He has kept some top class strikers quiet and always raises him self for the big games.

The only blip is Squillaci…unfortunately the pace has gone and whe you cant read a game as natural as a Sol or Keown or Adams you get found out…Right player 5 years too late!!!

Sagna and Clichy would walk in to any other premier league team….
