Arsenal Team News Update Ahead Of Newcastle Trip: Emery Handed Triple Injury Boost

Here is the latest team news as Arsenal have been handed a triple injury boost ahead of their trip to Newcastle this weekend.

Arsenal will be looking to make it three Premier League wins on the spin when we take on Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Saturday afternoon.

The club have issued a team news and injury update on Arsenal.com today ahead of Unai Emery’s press conference this afternoon and the boss has been handed a triple boost.

Alex Iwobi missed the thrilling 3-2 victory over Cardiff City at the start of the month due to illness and was subsequently ruled out of Nigeria’s double-header during the recent international break. However, the attacker returned to full training earlier this week and is now back in contention to face Newcastle this weekend.

Sead Kolasinac looks set for a swift return to action as the full-back is progressing well in his recovery from a knee injury that he sustained against Chelsea during pre-season.

The Bosnian international was initially ruled out until some point in October but the Arsenal medical team have revised their time-line and Kolasinac is now expected to resume full training at the start of next month.

There is also a positive update on Ainsley Maitland-Niles as the versatile midfielder is also making good progress in his recovery from a fractured leg that he picked-up during our opening weekend defeat to Manchester City.

Maitland-Niles was not due back until November but the youngster must be on track to make a quick recovery as he’s now expected to return to full training in early October.

Arsenal.com also published the latest on Laurent Koscielny and the centre-back has started doing ball work out on the training pitches as he continues his rehabilitation from an Achilles injury. However, Koscielny won’t be back in full training until November.

The final update regards Carl Jenkinson and the full-back is still working his way back to fitness following an ankle sprain and the out-of-favour defender will be back in training at some point in October or November.

Here is the update on Arsenal.com:

Alex Iwobi
Missed Cardiff City (a) with illness. Back in full training.

Sead Kolasinac
Left knee injury. Progressing well and now expected to return to full training in early October (initially aiming to return during the month of October).

Ainsley Maitland-Niles
Small fracture to left fibula. Progressing well and now expected to return to full training in early October (initially aiming to return to training in November).

Carl Jenkinson
Significant sprain to right ankle. Aiming to return to training in October/November.

Laurent Koscielny
Right Achilles tendon repair. Started working outside. Aiming to return to full training in November.

We head to the north-east off the back of wins over West Ham and Cardiff so Arsenal can climb further up the table with another win over Newcastle on Saturday afternoon and Emery has no fresh injury concerns to deal with.
