Granit Xhaka scored a stunner as Arsenal made it three wins on the spin with a hard fought 2-1 victory over Newcastle United at St James’ Park this afternoon.

Newcastle perhaps edged the first half as they were the more dangerous of the two sides but the hosts couldn’t find a way through and it was all square at the end of a disappointing opening forty-five minutes.

However, Arsenal were a different side after the break and we broke the deadlock with our first attempt on target as Granit Xhaka fired home a stunning free-kick from 25 yards to give us a vital lead in the 49th minute.

We made it 2-0 less than 10 minutes later. Xhaka did well down the left to find Alexandre Lacazette who saw his snap-shot blocked but Mesut Ozil was on hand to calmly stroke the ball home for 2-0.

Newcastle ensured it would be a tense final few minutes as Ciaran Clarke headed home at the far post in the 91st minute to make it 1-2 but we held on to secure our third consecutive win.

Good win but Bellerin plays like a wing back … all the time. Where was he when they scored from a header at his far post ? Ambling back … nowhere.
If you want to stop goals …. pick Lichtsteiner.
