[Video Goals] Liverpool 1-2 Chelsea: Hazard Scores Stunner To Seal Comeback Win
Chelsea came from behind to book their place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup with a 2-1 victory over Liverpool at Anfield this evening.
Chelsea had the better of the first half as Liverpool struggled to get going but the visitors failed to make their dominance count and it was the Reds who eventually broke the deadlock. Naby Keita saw him effort well saved and Daniel Sturridge was on hand to acrobatically volley home for 1-0 in the 58th minute.
However, Chelsea levelled things up in the 79th minute as Emerson Palmeiri poked home from close range after Ross Barkley’s header was saved by Simon Mignolet. VAR was called to check the goal as there was a suspicion of offside but the goal stood.
Sturridge almost restored Liverpool’s lead after hitting the bar but it was Chelsea who snatched the victory as substitute Eden Hazard came off the bench to score a superb solo goal to make it 2-1 in the 85th minute.
Liverpool couldn’t find another goal to force penalties so Jurgen Klopp’s men slumped to their first defeat of the season as Chelsea progress to the next round.
