Arsenal Team News: Club Confirm Injury Boost But 4 Players Could Miss Watford Clash

Arsenal have confirmed a major injury boost ahead of the visit of Watford tomorrow but we could be without 4 players for the game.

Arsenal will be hoping to make it five consecutive Premier League victories in a row when we take on Watford at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The club have provided a full team news and injury update on Arsenal.com ahead of the game including the latest on Sokratis, Emile Smith-Rowe, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Dinos Mavropanos and Laurent Koscielny.

Sokratis was forced off shortly before half time during Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over Everton last weekend after picking up a dead leg and the Greek international was left out of the squad to face Brentford in the Carabao Cup in midweek.

However, the defender has been able to resume full training and the clubs medical department have confirmed that Sokratis is now fit and available for selection to face Watford tomorrow afternoon.

Smith-Rowe made his full first team debut on Wednesday night but was substituted midway through the second half and it seems he picked up a hip injury so the midfielder is a doubt for this weekends action.

Maitland-Niles is still progressing well in his recovery from a fractured fibula which was sustained against Manchester City on the opening weekend of the season and the midfielder is due to resume training in early October.

Koscielny is also continuing his rehabilitation from an Achilles injury that he sustained towards the back end of last season and the skipper is due to return in November while fellow centre-back Mavropanos has been ruled out for a month with a groin problem.

The team news update on Arsenal.com said:

Sokratis
Now available for selection following right dead leg during Everton match last Sunday.

Emile Smith Rowe
Right hip being assessed ahead of match against Watford on Saturday.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles
Small fracture to left fibula. Progressing well and now expected to return to full training in early October. (Initially aiming to return to training in November).

Dinos Mavropanos
Groin injury. Expected to return to full training in by the end of October.

Laurent Koscielny
Right Achilles tendon repair. Now working outside. Aiming to return to full training in November.

It’s a big boost for Sokratis to be available as he’s been one of our most consistent players this season and we’ll need him to be at his best up against a very physical Troy Denney tomorrow afternoon.

Arsenal head in to the weekend action off the back of a six-match winning run that includes our last four league games so Unai Emery will be keen to keep building the momentum with another win tomorrow.
