Tottenham will be looking to bounce back from their defeat to Barcelona when they take on Cardiff City at Wembley on Saturday afternoon.

Mauricio Pochettino and assistant manager Jesus Perez have been speaking to the media at a pre-match press conference this afternoon and they’ve given a team news and injury update including the latest on Jan Vertonghen, Dele Alli, Serge Aurier, Mousa Dembele, Christian Eriksen and Michel Vorm ahead of the game.

Vertonghen missed the 4-2 defeat to Barcelona on Wednesday night after suffering a hamstring injury during last weekend’s win over Huddersfield. The defender picked up the issue inside the opening 15 minutes but played on until half-time as he thought it was just a knock.

Belgium manager Roberto Martinez revealed earlier today that Vertonghen is facing up to 6 weeks on the sidelines but Spurs claim they won’t know the full extent of the injury until a second scan is done on Monday.

Alli is also still out as he continues to recover from his own hamstring problem that’s hampered him in recent weeks while Aurier remains out with a thigh injury that’s seen him miss the last two matches.

Eriksen is another key player that will miss the visit of Cardiff as the midfielder is working his way back from an abdominal injury and Spurs will also have to make do without Dembele once again as the Belgian international is still nursing a thigh injury.

However, there was some positive news as Vorm is back in contention after returning to full training from a knee injury that’s kept him out of action since the trip to Brighton & Hove Albion on 22nd September.

Here is what Pochettino and Perez have told reporters:
