Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Danny Welbeck and Petr Cech face late fitness checks ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Leicester City but Aaron Ramsey is expected to be available, according to the Evening Standard.

Sokratis was forced off at half-time and replaced by Georgios Tzavellas during Greece’s 2-1 defeat to Finland on Monday night after suffering an ankle injury during the opening forty-five minutes.

The centre-back returned to north London and the Evening Standard claims Sokratis is now a doubt to face Leicester on Monday evening after being assessed by Arsenal’s medical team at London Colney on Wednesday.

If the 30-year-old is ruled out it would be a huge blow as he’s been a vital part of our starting eleven since joining the club from Borussia Dortmund in the summer and his absence would leave us light in the middle of defence.

Laurent Koscielny is back in light training following an Achilles injury but he won’t be available until next month while Konstantinos Mavropanos is also on the sidelines through injury so Unai Emery will be relying on Rob Holding and Shkodran Mustafi if Sokratis is ruled out.

Arsenal are also sweating on the fitness of Welbeck after the forward withdrew from the England squad last week while Cech will also be assessed ahead of the Leicester game after nursing a hamstring injury in recent weeks.

However, the Evening Standard claim Ramsey will be available for selection on Monday night. The midfielder missed Wales’ win over the Republic of Ireland after his wife gave birth to twins over the weekend but Ramsey is expected to be back in action for Arsenal when the Foxes come to the Emirates early next week.
