[Video Goals] Liverpool 2-0 Fulham: Salah & Shaqiri On Target As Reds Go Top

Liverpool moved to the top of the Premier League table after beating Fulham 2-0 an Anfield thanks largely to a controversial opening goal.

Fulham held their own during the opening stages of the match and thought they’d opened the scoring in the 41st minute when Alexsandre Mitrovic headed home. However, the linesman flagged for offside, despite replays indicating the striker may have been level, and Liverpool took full advantage.

As the Fulham players were still reeling from the disallowed goal, Liverpool took a quick free-kick which resulted in Mohamed Salah racing clear to cooly slot home for 1-0. To add insult to injury, replays showed the ball was still rolling when Alisson took the free-kick meaning Liverpool’s goal shouldn’t have stood.

However, there was no argument over Liverpool’s second as Xherdan Shaqiri slammed home a beautiful volley at the far post from an Andrew Robertson cross shortly after the break to make it 2-0.

There was no way back for the visitors so Liverpool eased to a 2-0 win that sees them climb to the top of the Premier League table ahead of Manchester City’s clash with Manchester United later this afternoon.
