‘World Class’, ‘Has To Start’ – Some Fans Praise Liverpool Star After Beating Fulham

Some fans have been praising Xherdan Shaqiri following his goal-scoring performance during Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Fulham at Anfield this afternoon.

Jurgen Klopp made some changes to his side following the midweek Champions League defeat to Red Star Belgrade with Shaqiri recalled in place of Adam Lallana to add some creativity in the middle of the park after a poor performance in Serbia.

It was only the Swiss international’s third Premier League start of the season but he certainly justified his inclusion today as Shaqiri put-in an excellent all-round display and capped it off with the crucial second goal shortly after half time.

Liverpool opened the scoring in somewhat controversial circumstances as they took a quick free-kick after Fulham had a contentious goal ruled out for offside and Mohamed Salah raced clear to slot home for 1-0 in the 42nd minute.

Fulham were still well in the game after a solid first half but Liverpool wrapped-up the three points less than 10 minutes in to the second period when Shaqiri fired home a stunning volley to make it 2-0 from a wonderful Andrew Robertson pass.

The former Stoke star has been in fine form of late and some fans have taken to social media to demand Klopp hands Shaqiri a regular role following his latest performance with one describing the player as being ‘world class’.

The 27-year-old has certainly done his cause no harm with another top display today but Shaqiri faces plenty of competition in the middle of the park with Naby Keita, Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Adam Lallana, Georginio Wijnaldum and Fabinho vying for three places so Klopp has a welcome selection headache.

Check out what some fans have been saying about Shaqiri today:
