Liverpool & Man Utd Handed Boost In Pursuit Of Exciting International Star
Liverpool and Man Utd have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Christian Pulisic after the Borussia Dortmund winger admitted he wants to move to England
The transfer window is closed but managers are planning ahead for January and next summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip. Today, the latest on Christian Pulisic…
Liverpool and Manchester United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Christian Pulisic after the Borussia Dortmund winger admitted he wants to move to England one day, according to the Express.
Pulisic has developed in to one of the most exciting young attackers in world football since joining Dortmund from PA Classics in 2015 and he’s established himself as one of the stars of the United States national team with 9 goals in his 21 caps so far.
The 20-year-old is already a regular at the Westfalonstadion and has provided 3 goals as well as 4 assists in his 12 appearances so far this campaign to help Dortmund storm to the top of the Bundesliga table where they sit seven points ahead of Bayern Munich after beating them 3-2 last week.
Pulisic’s potential has caught the attention of clubs here in the Premier League with the Express claiming that Liverpool have made attempts to sign the winger in recent transfer windows as Jurgen Klopp looks to be reunited with the player at Anfield having been the man to sign him at Dortmund.
However, the Merseysiders aren’t the only English club in the running as the newspaper says Manchester United have also registered their interest in signing Pulisic and could rival any bid made by Liverpool.
The north-west giants have now been handed a huge boost in their pursuit as Pulisic has revealed that he would like to test himself in the Premier League one day as he says it’s a league where ‘lots of kids dream of playing’.
Pulisic is quoted as saying by the Express:
“England, the Premier League, is a league where lots of kids dream of playing,”
“So there is no reason why maybe one day I won’t play here.”
Liverpool or United?
Obviously ‘one day’ doesn’t sound like a transfer is imminent but the simple fact that Pulisic has publicly opened the door to a move to England will give the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United huge encouragement.
Liverpool continue to be linked with the player but it would be interesting to see where he’d fit in if he does end up moving to Anfield as Klopp already has the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Xherdan Shaqiri at his disposal.
Salah and Mane are firm fixtures in Klopp’s starting eleven so Pulisic may have to make-do with a squad role initially if he does opt to join Liverpool. Or perhaps he’s being lined-up as a future replacement if one of Salah or Mane are lured away.
United obviously have the finances to compete with Liverpool and Jose Mourinho knows he needs to revamp his squad if they’re to compete with the likes of Manchester City for the Premier League title any time soon so they could be right in the mix for Pulisic’s signature.
I’m sure there will be plenty more speculation over Pulisic’s future over the coming months but it’s going to be interesting to see where he ends up when he eventually leaves Germany. Personally, I’d make Liverpool favourites to snap him up….
