Arsenal have been handed a major injury boost as Alexandre Lacazette has returned to full training ahead of Sunday’s huge clash with Tottenham Hotspur.
The French international was forced to pull out of Didier Deschamps squad during the recent international break after picking up a groin injury and missed his countries Nations League defeat to Holland and the friendly win over Uruguay.
Lacazette was subsequently ruled out of Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Bournemouth as Unai Emery’s men extended their unbeaten run to 17 games in all competitions with a 2-1 win on the south coast on Sunday afternoon.
However, the Gunners have been handed a boost as Lacazette returned to full training at London Colney this afternoon, as reported by Football London. The 27-year-old won’t be involved in Arsenal’s Europa League group stage game at FC Vorskla on Thursday night but he’s expected to be available for the visit of Tottenham to the Emirates on Sunday.
The news will come as a welcome boost to Emery as Lacazette has been a key player for Arsenal this season with the hitman starting in all nine of their league games prior to the Bournemouth match at the weekend.
The Frenchman has netted six goals in his nine starts so far this campaign and Emery is expected to recall the former Lyon striker against arch rivals Tottenham as the Gunners look to boost their top four hopes with a win this weekend.
Emery has rested his key men for tomorrow night’s Europa League group stage clash in the Ukraine so the Arsenal players should be well rested for the North London Derby where a win would see them move level on points with third-placed Spurs.
