Liverpool will be looking for a win to keep pace with Manchester City at the top of the table when they welcome Everton to Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

Jurgen Klopp will assess his squad after picking up a few minor knocks during the 2-1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday night but the Reds boss isn’t expected to have any fresh injuries to contend with this weekend.

Nathaniel Clyne missed the trip to Paris in midweek so he’ll face a late fitness test to see if he’ll be available to face Everton but a place on the bench is the best he can realistically hope for as Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold are both ahead of him in the right-back pecking order.

Dominic Solanke isn’t expected to return on Sunday as he continues to overcome a groin strain that he picked up last week while Divock Origi will face a late fitness test having missed the PSG clash due to illness.

Adam Lallana was due to resume training on Thursday after recovering from a muscle injury but the midfielder is unlikely to be risked against Everton while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is obviously still out as he continues his rehabilitation from knee surgery.

Klopp will also have to make-do without the services of skipper Jordan Henderson as the midfielder will serve a one match ban having been sent off during the 3-0 win at Watford last weekend.

Everton in good health

As for Everton, Marco Silva has no fresh injuries to report following the 1-0 win over Cardiff last weekend so the Toffees boss has virtually a fully-fit squad to choose from at Anfield.

Jonjo Kenny could be back in contention for a place in the squad after playing for the U23’s this week having overcome a knock but the young defender won’t start as Silva will no doubt stick with Seamus Coleman at right-back.

The Everton boss has named an unchanged line-up for the last two games and he could hand Yerry Mina, Lucas Digne, Bernard, Andre Gomes and Richarlison their first taste of a Merseyside derby on Sunday.
