[Confirmed Teams] Southampton vs Man Utd: McTominay Starts As Injury Crisis Hits Utd

By on December 1, 2018

Manchester United will be desperate for a win to close in on the top four when they take on Southampton at St Mary’s this evening.

Jose Mourinho has an injury crisis in defence as Chris Smalling has been ruled out with a foot injury while Eric Bailly has a back problem so they join Victor Lindelof on the sidelines. It means either Scott McTominay or Nemanja Matic will partner Phil Jones in the middle of defence this evening.

Ashley Young starts at right-back with Diogo Dalot named on the bench while Luke Shaw returns from a domestic ban at left-back. Ander Herrera starts in midfield along with Marouane Fellaini and Paul Pogba while Romelu Lukaku gets a recall alongside Marcus Rashford in attack.

Anthony Martial is dropped to the bench where he joins the likes of Jesse Lingard, Fred, Juan Mata and Marcos Rojo.

Here are the confirmed line-ups:

McCarthy, Cedric, Stephens, Vestergaard, Yoshida, Valery, Lemina, Redmond, Hojbjerg, Armstrong, Obafemi

Subs: Hoedt, Davis, Austin, Romeu, Ward-Prowse, Gabbiadini, Gunn

Man Utd
