Mourinho Facing Injury Crisis: Man Utd Could Be Without 10 Players For Arsenal Clash

Manchester United are facing a mounting injury crisis as Jose Mourinho could be without up to ten players for the visit of Arsenal to Old Trafford on Wednesday night, according to the Telegraph.
United were forced to deploy midfielders Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic alongside Phil Jones in a back three during Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Southampton due to a number of injury problems in defence.
Victor Lindelof is out until the New Year due to a hamstring injury, Eric Bailly missed the Southampton game with a back problem while Chris Smalling was ruled out with a foot injury and the duo remain doubts for the Arsenal game on Wednesday.
The Telegraph claim right-backs Antonio Valencia and Matteo Darmian are also facing late fitness tests having missed the trip to St Mary’s with unspecified knocks at the weekend while Jones is set to undergo a scan having picked up an injury against the Saints.
To make matters worse for United, Luke Shaw limped off during the second-half on Saturday with a muscle problem so he’s a doubt to face Arsenal while Ashley Young is certain to miss out as he’ll serve a one-game suspension after collecting his fifth booking of the season.
It means Mourinho could be without a staggering eight defenders for the visit of the Gunners on Wednesday night – although I’m sure the Portuguese coach will do all he can to get the likes of Shaw, Jones, Bailly and Smalling passed fit.
The injury doubts will be assessed at training on Tuesday but Diogo Dalot is on stand-by to make his Premier League debut at right-back while Marcos Rojo could be called upon having returned to fitness following an injury-plagued campaign.
Mourinho also has problems in attack as Alexis Sanchez will miss the visit of his former side having been ruled out until the New Year with a hamstring injury while Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford both limped off against Southampton with knocks.
The strike-duo will be looked over at Carrington tomorrow but Mourinho is hopeful at least Rashford will be available against Arsenal as he was only suffering from muscle fatigue on Saturday.
It’s a nightmare situation for Mourinho to deal with as he looks to get United’s season back on track with the Manchester giants languishing way down in seventh place in the Premier League table – eight points off fourth-placed Arsenal.
