[Video Goals] Burnley 1-3 Liverpool: Shaqiri On Target As Reds Close Gap On City

By on December 5, 2018

Liverpool maintained the pressure on Manchester City with a 3-1 comeback victory over Burnley at Turf Moor on Wednesday night.

It was a disappointing first half with few goal-mouth incidents but it was Burnley who finally broke the deadlock just after half-time as Jack Cork made it 1-0 in the 54th minute after a scramble – although Alisson may feel he should have done better.

However, the hosts weren’t ahead for long as Liverpool equalised within ten minutes as James Milner curled home in to the bottom corner from 20 yards in the 62nd minute.

Liverpool then completed the turn around just seven minutes later as Virgil van Dijk knocked back a Trent Alexander-Arnold free-kick to Roberto Firmino who tapped home to make it 2-1 in the 67th minute.

Xherdan Shaqiri wrapped things up for Liverpool as he scored to make it 3-1 in stoppage time to ensure the Reds move back to within three points of leaders Manchester City.
