Man Utd Squad For Liverpool Game Revealed: Quartet Passed Fit For United
Manchester United have been handed a boost as Martial, Shaw, Lindelof and Smalling have all been included in the squad for today’s clash with Liverpool.
Manchester United have been handed a major boost as Anthony Martial, Luke Shaw, Victor Lindelof and Chris Smalling have all been included in the provisional squad for today’s clash with Liverpool.
Martial has missed United’s last two matches after suffering a hamstring injury during the 2-2 draw with Arsenal earlier this month while Smalling also missed the Champions League trip to Valencia in midweek with a foot injury.
Shaw has also sat out Man Utd’s last two games with Fulham and Valencia due to a knock while Lindelof has been nursing a thigh injury that he picked up almost four weeks ago.
United boss Jose Mourinho said at his pre-match press conference on Friday morning that all his injury doubts would be assessed in training before their availability for the Liverpool game was determined.
It looks like United have received some welcome news as the Manchester Evening News claim that Martial, Shaw, Lindelof and Smalling all travelled to Merseyside as part of a 21-man squad ahead of today’s visit to Anfield.
In a further boost, Diogo Dalot and Matteo Darmian were also among the travelling party that checked in to their hotel on Saturday night after seemingly recovered from knocks so six of United’s initial nine fitness doubts are in contention to feature this afternoon.
Mourinho is also expected to recall David De Gea, Nemanja Matic, Ashley Young, Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford to the starting eleven against Liverpool so it should be a very different side to the one that lost to Valencia in midweek.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the confirmed United squad members are:
David de Gea, Sergio Romero, Lee Grant, Antonio Valencia, Diogo Dalot, Matteo Darmian, Victor Lindelof, Phil Jones, Eric Bailly, Ashley Young, Luke Shaw, Ander Herrera, Andreas Pereira, Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Marouane Fellaini, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard, Romelu Lukaku, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial
