[Teams] Southampton vs Arsenal: Confirmed Line-Ups From St Mary’s

By on December 16, 2018

Arsenal will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to 23 games when we take on Southampton at St Mary’s on Sunday afternoon.

Unai Emery has made wholesale changes from the side that beat Qarabag in the Europa League on Thursday night with Bernd Leno returning in goal while Stephan Lichtsteiner joins Laurent Koscielny in defence. Hector Bellerin and Nacho Monreal are recalled with Sead Kolasinac missing out due to a thigh injury.

Matteo Guendouzi is handed a start in midfield alongside Lucas Torreira while Alex Iwobi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are chosen to occupy the attacking positions. That means Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey must make do with places on the bench.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leads the line up front so Alexandre Lacazette drops to the bench despite scoring the winner in midweek. Youngster Eddie Nketiah is also named among the substitutes.

Here are the confirmed line-ups:

McCarthy, Yoshida, Valery, Vestergaard, Bednarek, Targett, Romeu, Hojbjerg, Armstrong, Redmond, Ings.

Subs: Gunn, Hoedt, Davis, Johnson, Ward-Prowse, Long, Austin

Leno, Bellerin, Koscielny, Lichtsteiner, Monreal, Xhaka, Iwobi, Guendouzi, Torreira, Mkhitaryan, Aubameyang

Subs: Cech, Maitland-Niles, Elneny, Ramsey, Ozil, Lacazette, Nketiah
