Liverpool will look to tighten their grip at the top of the table with a win when they take on Wolves at Molineux on Friday night. Here is the team we think Jurgen Klopp will select:

Goalkeeper: Alisson was at fault for the Manchester United goal last weekend but it was a rare mistake from the Brazilian international and he’s certain to keep his place between the sticks against Wolves.

Defence: Klopp gave a positive update on Trent Alexander-Arnold yesterday after confirming the full-back’s foot injury isn’t serious after he was forced to miss the United game. The trip to Wolves will also come too soon but Alexander-Arnold is expected to be back for the rest of the festie period.

Nathaniel Clyne put-in a top class performance on his return to the Liverpool team at the weekend but Klopp may decide to give him a breather as it was his first start during an injury-plagued season. James Milner could therefore come in at right-back on Friday.

Joel Matip and Joe Gomez continue on the sidelines so Dejan Lovren is expected to once again start alongside Virgil van Dijk in the middle of the back four with Andrew Robertson keeping his place at left-back after another breathless display.

Midfield: Fabinho was excellent during Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Man Utd so I expect the Brazilian to keep his place in midfield. Georginio Wijnaldum also put in another industrious display last time out but Klopp may want to freshen things up so Jordan Henderson could be recalled in midfield against Wolves.

Attack: Klopp has made a subtle tweak to his formation in recent games with Naby Keita playing on the left side and the Guinean international has been superb.

However, I think Xherdan Shaqiri will be given a recall on Friday night following his two-goal heroics off the bench on Sunday afternoon meaning Keita will be rested.

Sadio Mane should keep his place in attack after opening the scoring during Liverpool’s win over United. Mohamed Salah has been playing in a more central role of late and I think that will continue against Wolves with Roberto Firmino offering support.

Daniel Sturridge is an option if Klopp wants to rotate in attack but I think he’ll have to once again make-do with a place among the Liverpool substitutes along with Adam Lallana and Divock Origi.

Here is how I think Liverpool will line up:
