Emery Urging Arsenal Chiefs To Launch Bid To Sign £12m Serie A Star

Unai Emery is urging Arsenal chiefs to launch a formal bid to sign Torino’s £12m-rated centre-back Nicolas Nkoulou this month, according to reports

The January transfer window is open and managers are working hard on strengthening their squads and identifying targets for the summer so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest rumours. Today, Arsenal are linked with Nicolas Nkoulou….

Unai Emery is urging Arsenal chiefs to launch a formal bid to sign Torino’s £12m-rated centre-back Nicolas Nkoulou this month, according to reports in Italy via the Sun.

We have continued to looked woeful at the back for much of the season with Arsenal conceding 31 goals in just 21 Premier League games so far and we’ve managed to keep just 3 clean sheets in those matches.

Laurent Koscielny looks like he won’t be the same player following his lengthy injury lay-off, Rob Holding is out for the season and Shkodran Mustafi continues to be a walking disaster so we desperately need a top class centre-back to build a partnership with Sokratis.

The Sun claims Emery is keen to strengthen this month and is urging his Arsenal bosses to sanction a swoop for Nkoulou after identifying the Torinio centre-back as a key January transfer target.

The newspaper cites reports from Italy – believed to originate from Calciomercato.it – as the source of the information and the Sun says Torino will struggle to turn down an offer in the region of £12m if Arsenal were to put it on the table.

That kind of money would allow the Serie A outfit to turn a quick profit having only paid Lyon £3.15m for Nkoudou last summer following a successful loan spell during the 2017/18 campaign.

The 28-year-old has been outstanding at the back this season with Torino currently holding the fifth best defensive record in Serie A with 19 goals conceded in 19 games – a better record than the likes of Lazio, Roma and AC Milan.

Torino boss Walter Mazzarri will no doubt be desperate to keep hold of Nkoudou but the Cameroon international has just 18 months left on his contract so they may be forced to cash-in before his value depreciates even further.

Ideally Arsenal should be aiming for elite level players if we want to catch the likes of Liverpool and Man City but our finances won’t allow it so a £12m move for Nkoudou could prove to be a shrewd piece of business if we could pull it off.
