“Liability”, “Shocking” – Some fans destroy Arsenal man after West Ham defeat

Some Arsenal fans have destroyed Granit Xhaka after his poor clearance led to West Ham’s winning goal during our defeat at the London Stadium this afternoon.

Xhaka was recalled to the starting eleven alongside Matteo Guendouzi after being rested for the FA Cup win over Blackpool last weekend meaning summer signing Lucas Torreira was surprisingly left on the bench.

Arsenal really struggled to get going or create any clear-cut chances with a pedestrian midfield of Xhaka and Guendouzi failing to take control of the game against a mid-table West Ham side.

A poor performance from Xhaka was capped by a shocking headed clearance from a corner than fell straight to the feet of Samir Nasri just yards away and the former Gooner set-up Declan Rice to fire home the opening goal shortly after half time.

Unai Emery hauled Xhaka off and replaced him with Aaron Ramsey ten minutes later as we looked to find an equaliser but we barely created a decent chance and slumped to a disappointing 1-0 defeat at the London Stadium.

Fans have been reacting on social media with many slamming Xhaka for his ‘shocking’ clearance with some supporters labelling the midfielder a ‘liability’ due to the number of errors he makes that lead to goals.

One disgruntled fan even claimed that Denilson and Alex Song were better than the Swiss international while former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong claimed any fan that thinks Xhaka is good is ‘deluded’.
