The January transfer window is open and managers are working hard on strengthening their squads and identifying targets for the summer so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest rumours. Today, Man Utd and Chelsea are linked with Aaron Wan-Bissaka….

Manchester United and Chelsea are ready to battle-it-out over the signing of highly-rated Crystal Palace full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer, according to the Mirror.

Wan-Bissaka joined the Palace academy aged 11 and worked his way through the youth team ranks before breaking in to the first team set-up in 2016 and he’s now established himself as a key member of Roy Hodgson’s starting eleven.

The 21-year-old has been virtually ever-present for the Londoners this season having made 24 appearances in all competitions while Wan-Bissaka is being tipped to become a senior England international after already representing his country at U21 level.

The right-back’s potential has also caught the attention of clubs in the upper echelons of the Premier League as the Mirror claim that Manchester United and Chelsea have joined Manchester City in the race to sign Wan-Bissaka ahead of a summer move.

The newspaper says Palace are bracing themselves for big-money offers at the end of the season after being alerted to the growing interest in Wan-Bissaka’s signature from the likes of United, Chelsea and City.

Wan-Bissaka is under contract at Selhurst Park until 2022 after being rewarded for his superb form with a new long-term deal last April but it will be extremely difficult for him to resist if one of the big boys come calling.

United splashed out on Diogo Dalot last summer but with Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young approaching the end of their careers at Old Trafford, they need new blood and Wan-Bissaka could be viewed as a potential replacement.

Chelsea are also being tipped to sign a new right-back as although Cesar Azpilicueta has been first choice for some time, Davide Zappacosta is expected to return to Italy so the Blues could be eyeing Wan-Bissaka as the man to replace him.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming months but I think Wan-Bissaka is one of the most exciting young defenders in English football so he’d be an excellent signing for the likes of Man Utd or Chelsea if they could pull it off.
