Player determined to push through £20m move to Arsenal after talks with Emery

The January transfer window is in full swing and managers are working hard on strengthening their squads and identifying targets for the summer so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest rumours. Today, Denis Suarez is determined to join Arsenal…

Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez is determined to force through a move to Arsenal after being convinced over the switch following talks with Unai Emery, according to the Daily Mail.

Suarez has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium this month after Emery identified the Spaniard as a potential signing as he looks to bolster his options for the second half of the season.

Emery has already confirmed Arsenal can only sign players on loan this winter and the Daily Mail claim we’ve been in talks with the players agent about a short-term deal with the option to make the transfer permanent for £20m in the summer.

Barcelona have so far refused to sign-off that deal as the Catalans are keen to secure a permanent arrangement now having just splashed out big money to sign Frenkie De Jong from Ajax and they are demanding Arsenal HAVE to make the Suarez loan permanent at the end of the season.

The deadlock has opened the door for rival offers and the Daily Mail says Real Betis and Sevilla have expressed an interest in signing the 25-year-old this month and Barcelona are keen for Suarez to join one of the La Liga clubs.

However, the newspaper says the midfielder won’t give up on his dream of joining Arsenal and is refusing to join any other club – even if it means Barcelona freeze him out of the squad for the rest of the season.

The Daily Mail says Suarez has been convinced a move to the Emirates is best for his career after holding personal talks with Emery and is now determined to link-up with the Spaniard again having played under him at Sevilla.

It’s an interesting situation as the player clearly wants a move to Arsenal but the two clubs have so far been unable to agree a deal so it’s going to be fascinating to see how this develops over the coming days.

You can understand why Barcelona want to lock-in a deal now as Suarez has 18 months left on his contract and his value will drop by the summer so I think they’ll continue to try and push for a permanent deal this month.

Arsenal can’t afford to do that so it’s no surprise we’re exploring alternatives with reports suggesting we’re now in talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a deal to sign Christopher Nkunku.
