Liverpool table mega bid to sign £131m star as Klopp looks to bolster attack

Liverpool have tabled a huge £61m bid for Lorenzo Insigne but Napoli want closer to £131m for the talented attacker, according to reports in Italy

The January transfer window is closed but managers are still looking ahead to the summer so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Liverpool are linked with Lorenzo Insigne….

Liverpool have tabled a huge £61m bid for Lorenzo Insigne but Napoli want closer to £131m for the talented attacker, according to reports in Italy via the Mirror.

Insigne has been with Napoli his entire career having progressed through their youth system and he’s been a key player for the Serie A giants for the past seven years having racked-up almost 300 first team appearances.

The 27-year-old has continued to impress this season with 11 goals and 6 assists in his 27 appearances so far and it looks like his form has caught the attention of Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

The Mirror are citing a report from La Repubblica that claims Liverpool have identified Insigne as a key summer transfer target and have formalised their interest with a £61m bid.

The Italian publication says Liverpool made the offer through the attackers agent Mino Raiola instead of going directly to Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis due to his volatile nature.

Klopp already has one of the most feared attacks in Europe at his disposal with the likes of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane firing Liverpool to the top of the Premier League table and on course for their first title in 28 years.

However, Klopp knows he needs to add more depth if Liverpool are to compete on all fronts next season having seen the Reds crash out at the early stages of both domestic cups this season.

Insigne would be a superb addition as he’s a top class player who can play anywhere across the attacking positions so he’d give Klopp an additional threat in the final third if they were able to lure him to Anfield.

However, it looks like Liverpool will have to dig a little deeper as La Repubblica, via the Mirror, claim that Napoli have rejected their offer as they value Insigne at closer to £131m.

I personally don’t see the Merseysiders going that high for the Italian international so it appears Napoli will have to lower their demands if a deal for Insigne is to be agreed ahead of the summer.
